Transits: How Timing Works

The sky against your chart

A transit happens when a planet in today's sky forms an angle to a planet in your birth chart. Your natal Venus stays where it was the day you were born. When the moving Sun or Mars passes over it, that is a transit, and it tends to light up the part of life that placement governs. This is why a good reading can feel timely rather than generic: it is comparing the current sky to the one you were born under.

Fast transits and slow transits

Speed matters. The Moon moves through the whole zodiac in about a month, so lunar transits are quick mood and rhythm shifts, here and gone in a day or two. The outer planets crawl, so a Saturn or Pluto transit can shape a multi-year chapter. Fast transits are the weather. Slow transits are the season.

Retrogrades, briefly

A retrograde is when a planet appears to move backward from our view on Earth. Mercury retrograde gets all the attention and most of the exaggeration. A grounded read is simple: retrogrades favor the "re" words. Review, revise, revisit, reconnect. They are a prompt to double-check and slow down, not a cosmic punishment. Treat them as a planning cue, not a reason to hide.

How to use a transit

Transits are best used for timing, not fortune-telling. They point to when a theme is active so you can work with it: push during supportive windows, slow down and prepare during tense ones.
